About Lantern Tavern

For more than 20 years, Shane and Tracey Blum have helped shape the Lubbock restaurant and bar scene, creating locally owned establishments known for great food, cold drinks, and genuine West Texas hospitality. Their passion for hospitality began long before Lantern Tavern opened its doors, and today that passion can be found in every meal served, every pint poured, and every guest who walks through the door.

Their journey as restaurant owners began in 2005 with the purchase of The Gas Light, followed by Lantern Tavern in 2010. In 2024, they expanded their family of restaurants with the opening of Candle Bar. While each restaurant offers its own unique atmosphere and personality, all three share the same commitment to exceptional service, quality food, and creating welcoming spaces where friends, families, and neighbors can gather. Fittingly, all three are located along Slide Road, making them longtime staples of the Lubbock community.

Today, Lantern Tavern has become one of Lubbock's favorite neighborhood taverns, known for handcrafted cocktails, cold draft beer, scratch-made comfort food, weekend brunch, and one of the city's most inviting patios. Whether you're stopping by for happy hour, trivia night, open mic comedy, game day, or a relaxed dinner with friends, our goal has always been the same—to create a place that feels like home.

Tracey's hospitality career began at Texas Tech University, where she earned her degree in Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management in 2002. She then spent more than five years serving as Food & Beverage Director at Carillon Senior Living before turning her focus to building locally loved restaurants in Lubbock.

Shane has dedicated his professional career to Texas Tech University, where he has served since 1998 and currently holds the position of Associate Chair of the Department of Hospitality and Retail Management. His experience educating the next generation of hospitality professionals, combined with the couple's decades of hands-on restaurant ownership, has helped shape the welcoming culture and attention to detail that guests experience every day at Lantern Tavern.
